COMPASS MAGNETOMETER SENSOR

General Description:

HMC5883L 3-axis Electronic Compass Module Magnetic Field Sensor - The Original Chip is designed for low-field magnetic sensing with a digital interface and it is perfect for giving precise heading information. The sensor converts any magnetic field to a differential voltage output on 3 axes. This voltage shift is the raw digital output value, which can then be used to calculate headings or sense magnetic fields coming from different directions.

Working Principle:

The HMC5883L module operates on the principle of magneto-resistive sensing. Its three-axis sensor detects changes in the surrounding magnetic field, converting them into digital signals through analog-to-digital conversion. These signals, representing magnetic field strength along the X, Y, and Z axes, are outputted via I2C or SPI communication. With calibration and processing, the module provides accurate measurements for various applications like compasses and navigation systems.

Specifications:

  1. Operating Voltage: 3 -5 V DC.
  2. Standard current supply is 100 mA.
